Wordless Wednesday: Holidays at my House

This week’s Wordless Wednesday (which I’m cheating on and writing something) is all about the holidays at our houses. I may love Christmas music (sometimes), but I’m not actually big on holidays. The song claims it’s the most wonderful time of the year, but to me… it’s basically one big bundle of stress. Whose house are we going to and when? What do we need to bring? Will we have enough money for Christmas presents this year? Oh God, taxes are coming up! Stress, stress, stress.

Baking is one of the things I do to de-stress. I can focus on the recipe instead of whatever is going on around me. Baking is a science, and if you get the ingredients wrong it tends to go very badly. The last thing you want is a funky-tasting cookie. I actually baked some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies with my daughter last night and am currently munching on a few. Nom nom nom.

loathe wrapping presents. I’m the person who’d rather use bags and tissue paper than actually WRAP them (though when I do wrap, they tend to be fairly pretty).

We don’t do Christmas lights at our house. I’d like to at some point, but back problems and super long work hours prohibit most decorating for us. That, and I get super lazy and once the decorations are up, I don’t want to take them back down.

The thing I love most about the holidays in Texas? It gets chilly… ish. It did snow the other day, which was awesome. My friends made teeny tiny little snowmen in their backyards (the pictures are SO CUTE but  they’re not mine to share). I slept through most of it and had to work early that morning, so I didn’t get the chance to play in the snow, but my daughter did get the chance to have a snowball fight at school.

I saw some of the cute Texas snowmen. They were adorable.

Oh yeah, I’d love to decorate on the outside of the house, but it takes too much effort. I have the inside all done and that is more than enough for me. I’m with you though and hate to take it all down.

The pics I saw of the snowy fun in Texas were awesome. :)

And yeah I don’t decorate the outside…I barely decorate the inside. Just enough and with things that have a lot of meaning. That’s wnough for me.
